Tim,

On 66Mhz bus speed, Pentium MMX performance peaks at 200Mhz. Anyone pays any extra money for PMMX-233 or 266 is nothing but fool. Under most situations, these poor Joes are the victiums of Intel deceiving advertisements.

Poor performance and terrible battery life with PMMX-266 is simply a matter of fact that these notebooks are powered by Intel processors.

We were even more disappointed with the decreases in battery life caused by the 266-MHz chip's slightly higher core voltage.

Intel increased the voltage on the P55C to get to 266MHz. Is this true? Anyone?

Bob

Tim H, re:<We were even more disappointed with the decreases in battery life caused by the 266-MHz chip's slightly higher core voltage.>

WHAT?! The great Intel JACKING UP the supply voltage!

At best, these machines are only 5 percent faster than their 233-MHz predecessors

Wait 'til the first review of the new AMD K6-233 laptop -- it will be the fastest laptop on planet earth.
