AVANT! A guy I know told me that his company in Irvine, CA and he use AVNT since it is so good/cheap. If it is correct then no wonder Asian markets buy them. I shorted it w/ small and plan to get out soon. Of course, it was a much better short weeks ago.

BVF shows its first crack

BVF sank about 1 1/4 today to 33 and change on higher than average volume.

The company released "news" that its CEO, Eugene Melnyk, supposedly "purchased" 932,000 shares through the excersise of options. It was very interesting to see that despite the early morning release of this propoganda, the stock keeled over anyway. My guess is that bad news is starting to leak and just like we've seen with so many other of these hype-jobs, the company is doing everything it can to keep the small investor misled.

What the company neglects to mention is that Melnyk has traded BVF stock through shadowy accounts in the Barbados and that the company has lent him money to buy stock.

I've been shorting this stock from the mid to high 30s and will now rapidly increase my short position. I expect the next "earnings" report to finally reflect the bogus income accounting from the last 3 quarters.
