The only problem with writing puts in an IRA is that they have to be cash covered and interest on that cash is still pretty low ( at least where I keep my accounts). Also had the fiduciary law been fully implemented, some firms were thinking about prohibiting cash covered puts in IRAs. Your QCOM shares are probably safe. :) Wondering if we should do a poll here to see the level of interest in other option strategies. Long options Hedging strategies such as selling options versus longs in an index option Straddles, Combinations, Spreads... I use PowerOptions to kelp manage my positions. It allows you to set alerts and track portfolios. Also some tools to find potential trading opportunities. They also have webinars on various strategies.
