The FCC has released its minimum opening bids for the LMDS auction. For large metropolitan areas (i.e., more than 1 million people), the minimum bid for the A block is $2.25 per pop. Keep in mind that this is the MINIMUM; I fully expect these licenses to go for much more.

The highest minimum bid is for the Los Angeles license: $32.74 million. The next highest is for New York (minus the PMSA held by CVUS): $21.38 million. The next highest is for Chicago: $18.41 million. Rounding out the top five are San Francisco ($14.45 million) and Philadelphia ($13.27 million).

Let's all hope that the winning bids for these licenses is at least ten times the minimum!
