LeeMah DataCom Offers Token Authentication for PAM-Aware Servers

First security vendor to introduce token option for

new UNIX sign-on standard

FREMONT, Calif., Jan. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- LeeMah DataCom today announced the
availability of the market's first token authentication support for the new
PAM (Pluggable Authentication Module) standard for granting security clearance
to remote network users.

LeeMah has introduced two PAM authentication modules that enable UNIX users
to add LeeMah's SafeAccess(TM) token authentication technology either to
individual servers or to a centralized RADIUS server. LeeMah's InfoCard

hardware tokens then can be used to dynamically generate a one-time-only
password response.

In environments requiring authentication on a server-by-server basis, such as
engineering departments where users are authenticated to individual
workstations, LeeMah's SafeAccess PAM modules can be used to provide
authentication on the local database. For centralized authentication in
environments where users must access multiple hosts, LeeMah offers free
downloadable patches for the Ascend 971105, Livingston 1.16 and Merit 2.3 UNIX
RADIUS servers.
In mixed computing environments requiring centralized
management as well as centralized authentication, LeeMah's PAM modules can be
used to send authentication requests from local UNIX servers to LeeMah's
TraqNet 8000 SafeAccess Server, an advanced RADIUS server for Windows NT with
complete authorization and accounting capabilities.

"With the PAM standard promising to provide a generic way for UNIX servers to
authenticate remote users to system entry services and with UNIX vendors
beginning to incorporate the specification into their products, security
administrators are going to be searching for a means of doing PAM-based token
authentication," said John Tuomy, President of LeeMah DataCom. "We have
embraced the standard because we believe there will be a growing demand for

this kind of open security solution."

About InfoCards

LeeMah's InfoCard hardware tokens are handheld credit card-style devices with
replaceable batteries for unlimited life. They can be used to access up to 10
independent hosts, and they are available with optional PIN protection.

About SafeAccess and TraqNet 8000

Based on industry-standard Data Encryption Standard (DES) algorithms,
LeeMah's SafeAccess technology has the smallest memory and code footprint of
any security implementation on the market, allowing it to fit in small spaces
like the PAM module, PCMCIA cards or other modem-based tokens. It generates
token responses as singular events rather than time-related functions to
prevent potential hackers from jumping through a "time window."

This technology is the basis of LeeMah's TraqNet 8000 RADIUS server, an
advanced token authentication, authorization and accounting solution for
Windows NT 4.0 Servers or Workstations.

TraqNet 8000 allows centralized user and configuration management as well as
sharing of user ID information from enterprise databases. User accounts and
profiles are set up and maintained in the TraqNet 8000 SQL database, enabling
security administrators to add, change and delete user profiles quickly and
conveniently. User ID data already entered in Windows NT Domain or Workgroups
is used, eliminating the need to create a dedicated database.

The product also includes a built-in management reporting system for detailed
analysis of remote access usage and real-time monitoring of network activity.
Preformatted report forms can be easily customized or imported into other
software programs for maximum flexibility.
