On the basis of reason and logic I agree wholeheartedly (despite myself being heavily long on QCOM). Ooogala boogala!

***off-topic*** John, pull your finger out and contribute instead of moaning about people not giving you enough free information. You've been a member for over a year and no posts for months at least. Off-topic posts like yours are what block up valuable political discussion about the state of China. If you buy after an hour's reading, you'll be poor soon. Even if the posts are all on-topic. Get lost!

Diana, Gentleman Whatsit had wanted to minimize his really off-topic stuff, but the battery stuff is on-topic, so no criticism of you intended. Just off-topic turkeys like John [and IKM who used to write good stuff].

***On topic*** Ramsey, this might be the first time that the price goes up on announcement instead of down. I suspect people have got so used to it going down on the announcement that they have held off, even though they expect really good results, hoping to buy cheaper after the announcement. Surfer Mike has probably hooked the bottom. You too Ramsey. Thanks for the China comments - I'm with your pal, very optimistic about China. Shanghai should revert to being the big trade centre, which caved in after 1922 when my Mum left to come to NZ, leaving it to the Japanese then communists. They've done enough building and will need lots of cdmaOne to fill it, the latest WLL Chinese effort notwithstanding.

Surfer Mike, the spelling is "Klein Gilhousen". When I get my other computer going, I'll post an explanation he gave of loading, shrinking cells, [they call it 'breathing'] etc. No orthogonality, so you'll be okay.

Now this is one of the most amusing post. You aren't going to buy because stock chatroom participents don't flood day after day, hour by hour, news and repetitive information about a company?? I think I going to sell every stock I own; as this gets disturbing that some one invest becuase what is said in a stock chatroom.

Sorry John I posted more than my share of USEFUL information on this stock long ago. I don't feel like being some unemployed actor, constantly repeating myself, as if I got a script. Go do your homework and due diligence and quit browsing stock chatrooms for investment hints. Better yet buy MSFT, they constantly remind you day after day and hour by hour who they are!!

During the college football season some of the talk on this thread wandered into the pigskin arena. The participants in that tangent of discussion were roundly chastised for being ***OFF TOPIC***. However, in view of recent developments, I would submit that those discussions were not only ***ON TOPIC*** but prescient, albeit slightly off target revolving around the farm teams instead of the mighty NFL. (Recent references to the Niners and Packers notwithstanding.)

Do you think the PR dept at Q read those posts and detected a grassroots movement that they are now exploiting??

John, just a friendly bit of advice, don't buy any stock based on what you read on a thread or for that matter in the press or a brokerage research report! AS Warren Buffett once said "if your in a poker game for fifteen minutes and you don't know who the patsy is , your it". Good Luck!

John, how right you are--this thread is completely out of control. What we need is real information but can you imagine the impossible task that confronts me as chat club czar? We got sheep who get deep in the Sherry and then all hell breaks loose from New Zealand, a 4 legged critter who busts out of the kennel from time to time and cocks a leg in the direction of Redmond, a morosely depressed San Diegan who threatens to liquidate his Q one day and is back buying the next, technical guys who insist that if you ain't orthogonal you ain't with the program, not to mention a plethora of wanna be politicians, economists, evangelists, chartists, leftists, rightists, and that's before football season starts! God almighty John, don't leave me now--we're the only ones left who believe in the value of real information which always predicts the future of stock prices with unerring accuracy. Suggest the AMAT thread for you my friend: some real serious critters over there, a little low on HQ (humor quotient) but sounds like you'd fit right in. Fair warning though, those boys watched their beloved AMAT go in the dumper and never even cracked a smile--they got real information up the gazoo and still got hammered. John, what am I missing? Yours in the quest for truth, justice, and the bankruptcy of Ericy. Mike Doyle
