And in order to put forward a Socialist proposal in any country you often have to have a relatively large uninformed and generally poorly educated voting population.

If one combines those two aspects then one can offer them all manner of "free stuff" and they will swallow it "hook line and sinker" because they have little idea of the ACTUAL RAMIFICATIONS TO THEM of true Socialism.

It is also VERY LIKELY that they would not know of the FACT that nowhere has Socialism, in its true form, been SUCCESSFUL ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD.

Socialism doesn't generate wealth to any great degree, which is required such that a government can obtain decent Tax Revenues from business and private individuals in order to provide essential services, etc, to the population. After all, a government doesn't "make anything" in order to garner Revenue, it can only spend from what it gets in Taxes. And when Taxes are not enough it has to BORROW MONEY, which is always what happens within a Socialist state when Socialists provide all that "free stuff".

And when that DEBT grows "exponentially" then the Interest Bill, in itself, becomes ENORMOUS, even for a country.

Mindmeld, the foundation of the "democratic socialist" argument is the notion that America is too rich, too successful, too powerful. Hence it is our moral obligation to "spread the wealth."

One look at California should dispel any illusions about the realities of socialism. California is THE richest state in the union. California is also the most leftist state.

Yet the gap between rich and poor in California is incredibly huge.
