As I understand it she used the claim of Native American heritage to her advantage at universities to enhance her diversity status, which allowed her certain benefits in advancement.

You may understand that, but it doesn't mean that understanding is based on reality. Everybody actually involved denies it was the case.

Were are your strict rules of evidence here? Are they actually that flexible?
