John, BKS will show more profits in the 4th qtr that AMZN will show in sales. And, in case you hadn't noticed, AMZN is expected to lose almost $10mm for this "high side surprise" qtr. The reality is that BKS' 1000 or so big box and mall stores give them more visibility (while generating a profit, so it's like free advertising when Web shoppers drive by the store on the way to work) than Amazon can ever get through a link on your ISP's home page. How can you say that AMZN has deeper pockets than a company with $2.7bn in sales that actually makes money? I guess they can always sell more stock when the bank loan is used up. Oops, make that "have to" sell more stock.

Even the mighty can fall.<g>

John,

BKS has magnetudes more leverage an financial banking than AMZN!

What on earth makes you think otherwise?!

A clue - BKS gets there loans at LIBOR + small fraction of one percent while AMZN is like LIBOR + three percent (hope I got that right, I didn't look that up just now).

John, apparently you are grossly misinformed, let me give you some numbers that will knock your socks off.....AMZN market cap is approx. 1.8 billion with perhaps 100 million in sales last year.....BKS market cap is approx. 2.3 billion with 2.5 BILLION in sales last year AND they are PROFITABLE........how can you even imagine that AMZN has deeper pockets than AMZN. ALSO BKS and BGP have negotiated MUCH lower purchase prices for their books due to their VOLUME purchases. AMZN is not able to get these deals due to their small sales.....BKS and BGP can undercut AMZN prices on the internet for the rest of 1998 until AMZN goes out of business. The Bricks and Mortar stores will more than make up the difference as will the lower purchase costs....AMZN will be lucky to still exist at the end of 1998, and making a profit is already out of the question....AMZN has said so themselves......best of luck.......;^)

P.S. After option expiration today I expect AMZN to quickly lose at least the last 10 points it gained.............;^)
