Hi Jay it is a question of attitude, in mid-1980 I also believed in gold as a store of value, then 15 or so years later there was an argument on SI related to what is defined as a store of value, and at that time I concluded 2 items; (i) agricultural land as it is a mean of producing food for the foreseeable future and (ii) diamonds as the main component of the diamond price is expertise and human labor as long as a market exists for diamonds. In our days with substantial changes in the world climate agricultural land due to depletion of industrial agriculture, does not have the stability it had in the past in producing food, at list not under conventional means, but only with technological advances mainly drip irrigation but also a plethora of other additions/influences like, organic carbon, soil microbiota, beneficial fungi, mycorrhiza etc., all of which do cost money and efforts, for which SI is not build to detail. What is a store of value is human ingenuity and foresight but this is a genetical phenomenon and cannot be acquired.
