Intel purchased a 20 percent stake in a graphics chip company, Real 3D Inc., that was spun off by Lockheed Martin

Bethesda, Md.-based Lockheed Martin said Wednesday that it would retain majority ownership of Real 3D Inc.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Intel and Real 3D have been working together for more than a year to develop computer chips that can handle video conferencing,
3D flight simulations and cinematic-quality video. Intel executives have said they aim to help the PC evolve from a business tool
into an entertainment and communication device.

NINE has a market cap of less than $20 million.

This would be a bargain for S3. If they acquire NINE they could
immediately eliminate the cost of the infrastructure and retain
production and R&D. That will be an awful lot cheaper than to
build from scratch in-house.
