All, an excellent article on why the strong competitors are the ones who increase spending on R&D and capital during the down times. It fits the Intel/AMD situation like a tee, and the reason why Intel will only get stronger from here and AMD only weaker.. joey investor.msn.com

Jim, don't tell me you're starting to believe the AMD hype...This chip, if it ever gets done, wont be ready in any volume until late 2H98...Until then, AMD will not be able to deliver the goods to CPQ/IBM. IMO, CPQ will regret the decision to give AMD almost half of their retail business. Expect HWP and Dell to gain market share in the retail sector. joey

By design win I meant with a major manf. Who do you think will use th k63d? I wonder how horrible their yields will be for this 3d chip? Chompers is due q2 bet we don't see it till q3-4. NO volume till Q2 following year. jmo after listening to conf call. Scott
