Interest rates are going up for the right reason which is to protect the integrity of the US dollar in the face of umpty trillion dollar deficits.

It has been a decade since the panic to 0% interest.

Share markets have to compete. So dies gold. Oil can't keep going up when buyers feel impoverished.

In NZ the Automobile Association reports increased battery problems because people have reduced their fuel consumption by not driving their cars. So the batteries are going flat.

Hooray for 8% interest rates. Paul Volcker got it right.
