I'm using E-Schwab, I have no annual fee, and on-line trading MUST be used to get the low commissions (the commissions go SKY-HIGH (something like $90 per 100 shares) if you use even telebroker, much less a live person). Also, I joined E-Schwab during a special promotion, some of the terms I received (more than a year ago) may no longer be available for new accounts. Finally, Schwab has just taken the step of offering internet trading to ALL of their accounts, not just E-Schwab (effectively, the distinction between normal Schwab customers and E-Schwab customers has been eliminated).

Schwab is not the lowest-cost broker, but I have generally been pleased with their service, my only complaint is that they don't allow leaps in IRA's (which some other brokers do permit). Like many other brokers, they had access problems during the two-day October "mad house", but otherwise they have been excellent.
