If you are in new construction, there are unions that provide a drain cap(which can be unscrewed for draining.

They should be placed at the low point of a pipe system.

That is an added cost and should be detailed in the specs or most will not include it.

My friend is my plumber and he does it on retro work at my Wisconsin home.

I also require ball valves in every connection like a sink or toilet,hot water heater.

That's labeled "learning from your problems" and thinking ahead for the next time cuz everything does wear out with use.
