Martin,

I once lived in Woodside and I'm also familiar with the younger vintage Eichler's on Alexander Way in Los Altos. Eichler's were, at one time, considered cheap alternatives to conventionally built homes. Since the inflation of the late 70's, and the increased demand for homes in Silicon Valley, Eichler's are as desireable as any other home type. Such contemporaries are no longer built anyplace in the Bay Area because they don't meet building code requirements.

The average sale price in Los Altos was recently reported at US$780,000. The average in Woodside/Portola Valley was about 1/3d more.

Sorry, I couldn't help reporting the above. I was, for 22 years, a real estate appraiser with some academic background in geology (University of Oklahoma). Now I trade mining stocks. It's a lot more fun, and vastly more profitable.
