When my daughter started school (she graduated hs in 2001), we parents were told the kids would be taught reading and spelling using phonics and not to worry - it would all catch up. Well, it did!

This quackery is deliberate. It is an insidious, fifth-column measure to dumb down the populace so that they can be easily controlled. "Look-say" words that are not broken down by phonics and etymology become a population's "look-say" ideas that are not broken down by critical-thinking. Best current example is the naming of every one not on board with the leftist PC/MC agenda an "ist" or a "phobe." How much easier could it be for a "look say" generation than that?
