The gov't, aka politicians, mismanaged Soc. Sec. to create a Welfare State.
If your Soc. Sec. contributions were invested in 30yr bonds,
every recipient would be drawing on $1M after 45yrs.
And gov't can't have that much power in the hands of
anyone but them.

Your payments paid your parents benefits.

And the excess collected was squandered. At some periods that was half of the FICA taxes collected.

I'm not saying anything we don't all know.

Over 35 years ago I concluded that I should not count on SS and have managed my finances accordingly. I am a bit surprised that it has held up as long as it has, but the end is near. I hope you all are prepared.

We will take the first hit. That is why I took SS early.
