Mark, you never know, the LPD in Tokyo may decide that banks will be allowed to write up to market the carps they have in their ponds (some of these are priced at few ten thousands bucks each iam told, talking about tulip mania). Why, they could mark to market the air they breathe, it must have some value with all the hot air emanating from Tokyo. If they want to be really creative, they include in the bank assets their part of the Fuji (?) volcano, or maybe assetize the futures in the chance of it erupting in the next 30 years. One thing you can be sure, they are not going to look at their non performing loans and say, it is time to write this garbage down to its true value, and as long as they do not take this irrational step, you can be sure that the Nikkei is not going too far.
