Dave,
I agree with you.Wish I'd been savvy enough to follow Pengr a month ago!Unfortunately, his posts arrived here a little too late for me!

David,

I concur totally with your opinion of PEngr. Like Diamond I also am very skeptical and amused at most self-appointed board gurus but this guy is way too cool to be put in that category.

I started investing rather late in the drillers (August '97) somewhat by accident when a friend who was trading my account for me while I was away bought CDG for me at $54. When I returned it was at $45 and I scrambled to find out everything I could about this sector. I was so impressed with the story...mostly from this guy's posts...that I started loading up on them and had a great time for the rest of the year. I was strongly influenced by him to sell and rebuy into them several times, and because of this my account returned better than 80% last year.

PEngr seems to have little or no ego tied up in making his calls and he doesn't care whether you take his advice or not. I've been as incredulous (and irritated) as anyone at some of his calls (I've just loaded up and he says SELL!) but given his record, I have to continue to give his calls great weight in any decisions I make. Even if it's only blind luck, I figure I will go with the hot shooter until he cools off. Also, if any predictions are shown to be off, I'm sure he will be the first to realize it and let us know how he now sees it.

Good luck to all.
-Glen

Dave about P Engr...you're right, he has been right...but I my point was that there will come a time when he is not and all the people who have followed his predictions will be taken down with him. Yes, I know he has a good track record and he certainly seems to be unconcerned with ego...but unless someone can convince me that he or anyone has some connection with a time machine, I have a hard time putting much wait in predictions. Give me some fundamentals that support an opinion and I'll be able to evaluate. I don't know how to do luck.

I too wish I had followed his advice to pull out of the drillers last month...but I have NO idea how he came to that conclusion. I wouldn't buy a house based on this kind of thinking...I certainly wouldn't sell a stock for the same reason.

Good luck on your short term trading. I'm lousy at it.
