Thanks ........

Hi Norman,

glad you found the adsl modem component stuff useful, wasn't sure how it would be received, almost didn't post (obviously a work in progress/ and some might get defensive)... a little on the technical/compulsive side , but have found that due to the bs factor in all this stuff, seems to be important to pick a baseline and see where the pieces fall...

thanks for your xdsl postings, particularly enjoyed your posting of your bender interview... must have been an interesting experience/conversation...

Expect that when next generation adi/(awre) adsl silicon is announced the component count will be significantly down and competitive with all... timeframe seems to be the key... fwiw believe the coms/awre/adi connection has been underestimated... the 56k system on chip is a big deal... see no reason why the parties involved won't pull a repeat for adsl... adi has the horsepower..

as no doubt you are aware the previous TI /Coms v. everything approach seems a little dated... (and coms looks to be changing course)

Own coms via usrx and have been following the xdsl rollout with vested interest... at first thought the c6x software upgradeability angle seemed like a slam dunk... now am more agnostic and inclined to think efficiencies of system on a chip will win out...

My present bias is towards orctf: europe (no rboc resistance) and xdsl silicon leverage (shared ownership is a +)... but that's a convoluted obscure story (with more than a little risk) and figure coms/csco provides me a hedge...

but Gotta like awre's businesslike approach.... do you know anything about the background of the awre engineering talent?

and the G.lite story looks like it might get interesting...

Best of luck
