I'm not certain just how to be nice about this. However, last time I read this literature with any care, the conclusion on the nature/nurture argument vis a vis gender was a tossup. When one asserted one or the other as the basic/ur cause, whatever, it was a statement of faith, not research. I doubt it's changed much since. Suffice to say, it's a genuinely complicate field with research that points in all sorts of directions.
