I gave a keynote lecture earlier this year on the Future of Research in the Natural Resources. Here are some thematic areas of current and future Natural Resources research. Forestry is included, as you will see in a couple of additional slides. This talk was attended by some 250 College of Natural Resources students (majority undergraduates), staff, and faculty. My talk featured several areas of research, and even discussed the time constant of research as regards the 'appreciation' of the work and its utility in changing practices, or developing drugs, for that matter. I also discussed my role in research over the years, and what a blast I had. Since I was in the Biomedical Sciences, I tried to give the audience an appreciation of how that work helped shape my life, and current efforts.
