COO, CFO resigns David Zacarias Joins 3Dfx Interactive as CFO; Gary Martin Moves to TechFarm to Build New Start-Ups SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- 3Dfx Interactive(TM), Inc. (Nasdaq: TDFX) today announced that David Zacarias has joined the company as chief financial officer (CFO) and vice president of administration, effective February 2, 1998. Zacarias is currently CFO and chief operating officer of OPTi, Inc. in Milpitas, Calif. Gary Martin, 3Dfx Interactive's current CFO, is leaving the company to join Gordon Campbell as a consultant for TechFarm, a venture capital firm that invests in and fosters promising technology start-ups. "We are undergoing a transformation from start-up to a solid, rapidly growing public company," said Greg Ballard, president and chief executive officer, 3Dfx Interactive. "We have been fortunate to have Gary guide the company through its critical formative stages to a place where we are well poised for a promising future. Martin is best known for his work in the early stages of Apple Computer and Chips and Technologies, Inc. He served as Corporate and European controller of Apple from 1977 to 1983. He went on to work with Gordon Campbell in the formation of Chips and Technologies, where he served as senior vice president of finance and CFO from 1985 to 1993. Martin was active in the IPOs of both companies. He joined 3Dfx Interactive in June 1995 and took the company through its successful IPO in June 1997. Zacarias is also a veteran with over 20 years of experience in high technology companies. He currently is responsible for all financial and operational functions of OPTi, Inc. Zacarias has significant public company experience and has also participated in several IPOs. Prior to OPTi, he served as CFO and vice president of finance for Everex Systems, Inc. in Fremont, Calif. Before Everex, he served in the same capacity at The Santa Cruz Operation, Inc., in Santa Cruz, Calif. Zacarias was also president and chief operating officer of Altos Computer Systems in San Jose, Calif.
