Explain yourself.

Now that would go into the books and stone tablets along with "The Meaning of Life". I don't think there is a valid explanation (or excuse) for the Rat. (just keep your back firmly against the wall behind you)

One of the ways humans have adapted to climate change is by migrating to a more conducive climate. It's a lot more difficult to do, now that we are putting lines on the map. It doesn't fix climate change, tho; just helps some to survive it.
