I actually liked my flip-phone better than my smart-phone. I made the switch when I saw the value of smart phone aps, especially with foreign travel (which can also apply for US travel). Airline check-in aps and boarding passes on the phone, taxi aps, train schedules and digital tickets on the phone, bus and tram real time maps for various cities around the world, showing location of the bus and trams, including the Venice vaporetos. Hotel and restaurant info and reservations. No more phone calls that can be misunderstood because of language difficulties on MY end. The translation capabilities are remarkable. It changed my travel habits. Everybody in Europe uses txts more so than here, and contacting apartment owners and rentals is a dream now.
