I doubt Baby Bell spending negatively affected DSC this past Q, as others are saying Baby Bell spending fell in January, not December. Also, even if DSC did see a slowing of orders in January, they are not likely to mention it because the Q depends much more on what happens in March. They usually have a weak first month each Q.

Teltrend is a pretty well focused T1 supplier, I think, competing with PairGain, etc. The RBOC's are not homogeneous. One should not draw conclusions or make assumptions on business activity with Teltrend effecting DSC.

DSC's long term access and transport business with RBOC's, especially Bell Atlantic, is just getting ready to kick in.

This might be a great opportunity - DSC pulled down with the rest of them even though the business climate is opposite.
