Craig,

Wintune97 is not a trustable benchmarks. You should not use it to use its ratings to compare two different processors. At best, you could use it to compare different clock speeds of the same processor or compare the performances of different motherboards by using the same processor. In addition, I suspect that Wintune97 has been optimized for Intel processors. You would need some older benchmarks, such as Wintach or Windows User Benchmarks, that were touched by Intel dirty hands to compare farely.

Lots of benchmarks have been optimized for Intel processors. One of most well-known, from C't used by Tom Hardware Page, even shows that Pentium has much faster memory speeds over 6x86. Could you believe that?

As I said, it takes less than 3 seconds to load Word97 and less than half second to reload it again on my M2-166Mhz. How much faster is your overclocked PII-300? Could you tell the differences with your naked eyes? I bet that you won't.

Craig,

Re: "Wintune 97 isn't the most sophisticated benchmark but at least you can't fake it out with fancy peripherals. Here are the results ..."

Craig, I think Fuchi's answer to your post reveals the real truth ... that
being your PII system is faster.

Sounds like Fuchi is in denial.
