Hi David, I don't post here very often but at this point feel like I am in my misery loves company mindset! My hunch as to the reason for todays drop in ALTR is the disappointing earnings report from Microchip Technology which really got killed. Interestingly, they are not really in the same biz as ALTR but at this point the market is anything but rational on these stocks!! Hopefully we get some good earnings news including reasonably positive forward comments about the state of ALTRs business, otherwise am afraid we will suffer some more.

David re; Friday's disappointing action From Briefing.com: Brief:"Chip stocks took a step back on Friday as influential analyst Tom Kurlak (Merrill Lynch) indicated that the run-up in Micron Technologies' stock was overdone... Said that he saw the stock back near 20... MU lost over 2 points in very active trading..." Also it's pretty obvious that the negative action in the Chip sector was exacerbated by traders who didn't want to hold onto volatile issues over a long holiday weekend.
