Lisa; RE:" Good (free) Info for All Options Players "

cme.com

I requested this little "kit" from the CME on their "E-MINI" and found it in the stack of mail when I got back to Paris. There is a lot of cool stuff inside - and most of it has nothing whatsoever to do with the E-MINI in particular, but with options and index trading in general. For example, a little pocket-calendar with all the options expiration dates marked on it; "How to Get Started Trading (CME) Index Products"; and "Winning Stock Index Strategies" with essays by Larry McMillan and Linda Raschke, among others.

But the coolest freebie in the "kit" is this little, teensy booklet called, 21 Proven Strategies for E-MINI S&P-500 Options. Inside, it has nothing to do with the E-MINI...

...what it has is a graphical representation of all the options hedging tactics - such as the butterfly spread and the straddle and strangle, etc. Way-Cool - sort of like a "Cliff's Notes" summary of McMillan's opus Options As A Strategic Investment.

Wow - learning about options was one hurdle for me - then learning how to trade the indices without just writing a cheque to the CBOE was another - now I wonder how I ever simply bought a CALL or PUT without designing some kind of spread (^_^)
