>> As I look back at last q's earnings, I would actually think this
quarter or some near future quarter would disappoint.<<

Look forward to a weak 1st quater (4Q should be very good anyway) and thus not so positive comments in this respect. Remember the extreme seasonality of these products, especially with the consumer product orientation. Remember also the poor visibility this industry has known for the last 2 years.

Order visibility means that the company knows what orders to expect from OEMs as OEMs know what the market wants and will look like in the quaters going ahead. I think that 6 months going forward we'll begin to have pretty good visibility for CF.

As regards MMC, visibility is due to be poor in the beginning just as it's been for CF last year.

>>I guess my point is if earnings continue to blister, then Eli is a little too conservative.<<

Well as said above, the thing is Eli probably does not know what to expect and conservatively plays it down. I like it better this way too. At least we are not kept hoping for the best when the worst should come.

His comments for the '98 YEAR performance should indicate his confidence that the market will grow nicely and that he expects the company to participate in that growth.

Any thoughts?
