He can have multiple motives. The case is a total joke.

FECA (52 U.S.C. 30114 (b)(2)) specifically says that campaign-related expenses do not include any expenditures “used to fulfill any commitment, obligation, or expense of a person that would exist irrespective of the candidate’s election campaign.”

Now think about the people who are telling you otherwise. Consider how many of those people and organizations there are, all speaking in unison. Did even the Soviets achieve such conformity? We could ask Bernie, but he's busy decorating his new mansion.
