Level 2 Services......................................Level 2 Services Different services for different prices: Castle - Kill Key castleonline.com Level 2 for $150/month with built in execution system. Very SIMPLE and COMPACT! They require $20,000 to establish an account. For graphs, I use BMI light ($100/month). This allows me to view different graphs of the same stock at the same time all in real time. When the net is slow, my graphs keep ticking cause its over cable. I'm VERY satisfied. Other Level 2 systems/graphs/news/execution software: These companies offer complete trading systems with a price attached. They allow you to trade at home over internet connection, unlike other systems that require a direct connection or require trading at a House. MB Trading: mbtrading.com or trading-quotes.com This is the newest service which looks really nice! Cost is $300/month with price breaks depending upon number of trades. Only $100/month if you make 20-49 trades. FREE if making 50+ trades! A one time software charge of $300. I would definitely look at this one seriously if you don't go with Castle. CyberTrader: cyber-corp.com Similar type system as MB Trading. I've tried to communicate with representatives of the company on several occasions..for what its worth, PR is left wanting. They won't answer my simple questions whether I ask them via SI or email. I like dealing with companies that are up front and have nothing to hide. AB Watley: abwatley.com Similar system as the above. They've been at it awhile and have quite a few customers. I've heard comments from several other daytraders that they do very well with them but don't like a certain individual that is user "unfriendly". Its also more difficult to "short" with them due to availability. PC Quote: pcquote.com Been around a long time. Several customers. There are other full service firms that I did not include. Don't think that these will be the last! Daytrading is becoming more popular and there will be several more start ups in years to come. Wouldn't it be nice if Ameritrade offered a system like these with trades costing only $8.00? Competition will cause it to happen. IMPORTANT: if you are running these programs via telephone internet connection, consider upgrading to cable if available in your area. Myself, I'm purchasing a NEW KIND OF MODEM.. that I call a "POOR MAN'S ISDN". Its offered by Diamond, which makes better modems than 3Com. Go to diamondmm.com Its called "Shotgun Technology". Pretty cool stuff! Its like hooking two 56K modems together for speeds up to 106Mhz/s ($199). Or, you can buy one of their 56K modems and hook it to your current modem for extra speed. Also, in running these programs, make sure you have a fast chip and Graphics Accelerator card, and plenty of RAM. zdnet.com Look at Dec 2nd edition of EDITORS CHOICE for graphics cards. I like Revolution Number 9. Business graphics is 2D and this is the best choice for such. If you are going to buy a second or third computer, consider having it assembled with what you want, rather than buying a brand name package. When making any upgrade..my motto is "Do it right the first time...or pay twice!" Street Walker
