Most people interviewed today don't realize that hate speech is protected speech. The reason for that is that "hate" is hard to define in law. For example, a lady in the Europe made statements that Sharia Law allows for the subjugation of women and Mohammed married an underage female, which is considered illegal and pedophilia in western nations. She was convicted for hate speech in Europe. In the US, should would not have been, because what she said was purely factual, although Muslims could legitimately say they were offended by what she said. So is what she said hate speech? To Muslims, yes, it was. To any reasonable 3rd party, it sure looks like factual statements. So here in the US, the default is to protect the speech and give people wide latitude. You may not like that, but it is actually critically important to a healthy society and to its ability to grow, transform, and evolve. The more restrictions on debate, free speech, the words we use, and censorship in a society, the less openly critical people can be of things, which leads to stasis, calcification, and ultimately to entropy and tyranny. Liberals don't think that far ahead. So they love their censorship now, because it only impacts conservatives. Soon enough though, that boomerang will come back to smack them where it hurts. The weapons you use today will be used against you in the future. That's what all smart, forward looking people understand.
