When Obama was first elected he had the entire nation on his side. People loved him, and could have gotten much more than he did. We also controlled the house and senate. He took less because he did not want to butt heads with the Republicans.

Chuck Todd in his book on Obama, The Stranger, said Obama ran an outside race against Hillary and as soon as elected ran and inside race, which means he was trying to schmooze the Republicans. Look how may Republicans he hired. How many Democrats did Bush or Trump appoint?

Remember at late as 2016 when Obama learned about Russian interference he did not tell the nation and said it was because Mcconnell did not want him to!

He was president for Christ's sake, where did Mcconnell come into that conversation?

<<Even with the stimulus, there were many voices that said it should have been much larger(Krugman was one of them) but, from memory, the political will wasn't there. Obama couldn't snap his fingers and get exactly what he wanted. He got what was available.
