Americans are torn on whether the word should have received the honor, but agree that politicians and the media have contributed to a toxic culture. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 43% of American Adults agree with the publishers of the Oxford English Dictionary that “toxic” is the word of the year.
