America does not have a police state. Those are the product of dictatorships.

One of the reasons for Canada'd smaller incarceration rate is because there are no long term prison sentences. Most of those convicted of Murder are released on the street again in just a few years. If they were held prior to trial, They are granted 2 days off their prison sentence for every day held prior. Theft and Fraud charges unless it is grand larceny are for the most part simply dealt with by demanding the culprit report to a probation officer.

Many of those convicted of Major crimes. Are released early from incarceration, places back among the public on Parole Even rapists and child sex offenders. Perhaps you should acquaint your self with Canadian Law. Canada does not have private jails, ran for profit like the US. They are state and provincially owned. Judges do not get kick backs for dishing out long prison sentences.

The Canadian government believes it is cheaper to leave them on the streets supporting themselves.
