One of the challenges in exploiting financial markets is that humans are awful at accurately assessing risk. I recommend the following little tome on that subject:

While an understanding of past market history is essential, mostly because human behavior is relatively unchanging, there are limits to its usefulness because everything else does change. In addition, such a small number of examples are not statistically significant. That doesn't necessarily mean that they are wrong.

Hence the endless entertainment provided by markets even when they occasionally zig when I zag.

Those who can avoid contracting hubris from their past successes shall live to see future successes.
