I recommend the following little tome on that subject: amazon.com While an understanding of past market history is essential, mostly because human behavior is relatively unchanging, there are limits to its usefulness because everything else does change. In addition, such a small number of examples are not statistically significant. That doesn't necessarily mean that they are wrong. Hence the endless entertainment provided by markets even when they occasionally zig when I zag. Those who can avoid contracting hubris from their past successes shall live to see future successes.
