Ah, the ever substantive Dowd, slinging ad hominems and talking about other people blowing hot air as usual. Does this little missive mean you won't be giving us the benefit of your indisputable version of the "truth" according to Microsoft's lawyers in the future? Pity, that. You can always go hang out at "How High can Microsoft raise the middle finger.".

Cheers, Dan.

John,

>Do we begrudge one farmer his success because he uses the nearly free elements to operate a prosperous farm just because the guy down the road can't. These guys who whine against MSFT on this thread would have lined up behind Lenin and Stalin in a heartbeat.

No, I do not begrudge the farmer who can operate a farm efficiently, but I do recognize the farmer who owns both the farm and local shipping business for what he is. Using the trucking division profits and leverage to put the other legitimate farmers out of business may sound like capitalism to you but it sounds more like racketeering to me.

As far as whining my way behind Lenin or Stalin as you imply, it will be interesting to show that to my friends with whom I used to argue from the side of the Young Conservatives. From your fear of communists (of which the US must have at least 100 still active) I would guess "McCarthyism" is still entrenched in your heart. My answer to both the McCarthy's and Communists is simple: "Rifle-butt in the teeth.". My reason for being a loud out-spoken ass on this thread varies from yours but it is not coming from the flaming liberal side by any means. It is my honest opinion that Microsoft has now become a detriment to the consumer PC software industry in the same way that IBM and ATT became detriments in their own arenas of influence. As a consumer I am not seeing the full benefits of "capitalism" by seeing competition and consumer choice eliminated in such a blatant fashion. A little competition never hurt anyone, but no competition hurts everyone in the end.

P.T. Barnum would have loved consumer software! There is a new user born every minute.

I'm with you on investing though: Own a MAC, invest in PC's.

Take it easy,

Norm
