Interesting you should mention this. Before I got my ZyXel TA, I tried GTE's so called unlimited 2B service. You get what you pay for. The service was terrible. You only got a 2B connection when it was "available" which was almost never and even if you were lucky enough to connect at that speed you could easily get bumped down to 1B if GTE needed the bandwidth for other customers. I cancelled my ISP contract w/them w/in 72 hours and at that point decided to get a TA that could handle BOD. GTE is also a telephone company offering local service. They may have decent rates there, but the quote above is for the GTE as ISP rate. The ISP also has notoriously slow newsgroups.
