Now that the U.S. is a net exporter of both oil and natural gas, there is no longer a need to pretend that we care about peace in the region. As the locals scale up their killing of one another the U.S. sells more weapons with less risk to its own soldiers. If I were Saudi Arabia or Israel, I might think twice about the fairy tale that Chump cares about either of them. Like a smart parasite, we don't want either of them to get wiped out to the point that they can't afford to buy our weapons. That should not be confused with the notion that we want peace in the region. Peace is not good for business.

This will change some years down the road if fracking proves unsustainable, but like any advanced technology there may be further surprises. If the U.S. should again need oil, it will suddenly care again about the people of the region, or so it will claim.

Big D is awesome to simply run around the generals and warmongers, declare victory over ISIS and leave.

It's interesting to see the mass hysteria and propaganda against the decision. A lot of people like war and opm spent on machines to do it and the sheer pleasure of killing other people. Weird and psychopathic but that's people for you. Swarms of others can't think, know little and just get their opinions fully-formed from their favourite guides and priesthoods.

I'm not convinced this is the beginning of peace on Earth and goodwill towards all men. But it's a lot better than thermogedon.
