Well you got the stock to sell down to 29 cents so far. So the "rumor" is working.

Sorry if it appeared that I was claiming it was true.

It didn't and I didn't say that it did. I just suggested that it wasn't credible.

To me the fact that a rumor is "seemingly tracking back to insiders"...or former insiders...only enhances its lack of credibility, due to both the "seemingly" and the lack of credibility of virtually all of the insiders. It strikes me that the FDA would be highly unlikely to preemptively address the provenance of a drug candidate for which an IND hasn't even been filed, especially going so far as to be "forcing Diwan & TheraCour to untangle their parasite-host relationship with NNVC".

Does that really seem reasonable to you?

I'm not asking if there is some slippery "grain of truth" justification for repeating it but whether it actually seems reasonable. I don't believe that it does. It's that simple. You thought that it had enough of a basis to report it publicly, adding disclaimer language while suggesting that it might be reasonable. I don't believe it to be reasonable.
