it is just i have never until now seen such a contraption

in any case, outside of the bed & breakfast (lunch and dinner) place, i show below three pics cropped from the same panorama shot, from left to right, showing the river's dam, side slip, progressive narrowing of the side channel to increase water flow speed, and to the cul de sac vortex, along with companion pics of the metal pipe inclining upward to the higher level ... glad i showed the machine to the kids but doubly glad was pipped by the comment from jack, 'the twirly thin' :0)

getting water to go up seems a difficult problem
