To: Neil Re: the timing of the split

I agree with you on this. HOWEVER, there is a very simple explanation as to why they did it when they did.

The ostensible purpose of the split (which I believe) was in order to incentivize employees with stock options. This had to be done prior to 1998 in order to be there for the 1998 Employee Stock Option plan.

That is why they did it when they did.

However, for the rest of us poor saps, it did hurt the short term momentum. It will return on the 23rd. Look for great earnings and renewed institutional interest in the weeks ahead.

Neil, IOM seems to have periods where it goes into a funk and these are very frustrating times for investors esp. when the Dow goes up 100 points and IOM doesn't participate. However, in the past IOM has outdone itself when we least expected it. So that's why I'm still in it(big time); with a s--t load of shares. SR

>>Not only is the actual split a little strange (most companies would probably just issue more stock), but the timing was very odd. I think they created some uncertainty and since then, the stock has lost its momentum and become diseased...again.<<

Neil -

I agree. While on the one hand I applaud the approach of ignoring the short-term stock fluctuations and pressing on with building the company for the future, I sometimes wish that they wouldn't go out of their way to antagonize the Street.
