How Shakespearean in how Sears was hoisted with its own petard.
  • Sears Founded in 1893
  • Amazon 100 years later (1990s founding) gives Sears a dose of its own medicine.
  • Sears 2018 bankruptcy and liquidation perhaps after today.

You have to wonder how many CNBC viewers bought into the stock and helped drive its price up after Jim Cramer's good buddy, Eddie Lampert, took it over and Cramer kept gushing about it...

SOMEONE made a lot of money buying in the low teens and selling just below $200 if they took the gains and ran rather than buy the dip thinking Lampert could reverse the trend. Obviously Lampert failed while Walmart and Target CEOs figured out how to thrive competing with Amazon.

Does anyone know if Cramer has or had it in his Action Alerts portfolio ?

I worked at Montgomery Wards as a toy then paint salesman in high school and summer vacation to help pay for college. Sears was our huge competition....
