Hi Everyone! Well since you asked Penni, and since I'll now probably be up half the night. Here goes some horrid back surgery tales. First thing is I thought the doctors, nurses and everyone at the hospital was just terrific. I couldn't have asked for better service or assistance. Madigan Army Hospital in Tacoma is one squared away run place. I never could understand why Military medicine gets such a bad rap in the press. Anyway...I've never had surgery before so the one thing that really fascinated me was being put under to begin with. It was really weird how my mind went through this kinda struggle between what was reality and what was not. I clearly remember waking during the operation and moving my fingers and muttering something. Then someone said something and boink, I was out again. I don't know if I can express it well enough, but it was very surrealitstic and fascinating. What is reality? Was a big question, I felt I needed to constantly try and answer. Perhaps if I had your clarity of writing Penni, I could explain it a little better. Second thing, Cathometers are the worst! I hated that thing stuck in me and begged them to take it out early!! It's really amazing how you can take a reasonably healthy individual before an operation, and turn them into a near total invalid after one. It hurt to even cough during the first night. I was never more glad to use drugs in my life! I caught a stupid fever which kept me in the hospital an extra day. Evidently blood clotting can do that sometimes. Well that's about all the gory details, except now I have a seven inch slice down the lower part of my back which is healing rather nicely. The doctor says my nerve to my leg was pinched pretty good. So it may take a couple of weeks for the numbness to go away. I'm hoping for the best. I don't know what to make of IRSN Penni, that stock sure has gone on some wild gyrations lately. Michael
