John Kelly has told people around him that Trump isn’t up to the job of being president. In the Los Angeles Times interview, Mr. Kelly conceded that Mr. Trump often pressed against the legal boundaries of his role, as the former secretary of state, Rex W. Tillerson, said recently. The president would ask things like, “‘Why can’t we do it this way?’” Mr. Kelly said. It is obvious to outsiders that Trump is not up to the job of being president, but to hear it from the people who worked closest with him sheds an entirely different light on the subject. This fact was plain as day during the campaign. Trump is a person who doesn’t absorb and synthesize information.
