Big D withdrawing USA from Syria is great. He continues to do the right thing with only a few bad choices such as bombing Syrian airbase for an imagined chemical attack which was probably some jihadists blowing up some swimming pool sodium hypochlorite causing airway irritation in exposed people.

The invasion of Syria by the USA looked like an excuse to attack Assad on the pretence of attacking ISIS which was established by Saudi Arabia with Obama tacit support. That might have been the intention of the Pentagon people but it seems Trump disagrees.

For some reason it was okay for the USA to invade Syria but it wasn't okay for Russian-backed soldiers in Ukraine to defend against the Kievan coup leaders and the intended USA conquest of Crimea and eastern Ukraine with a view to surrounding Moscow in a pincer move with Yank tanks to Murmansk in the north and Baltic state Barbarossa from the west.

The only reason I can think of to be invading Syria is on the way to Iran to eliminate the threat they make to destroy Israel and wage jihad on everyone else. That's enough reason but that seems not to be the idea so much as to just have war going on. Maybe to keep oil supplies limited and the price of oil up by reducing middle east production from Iran and Syria.

Assad is okay as a dictator. He's not your average Saddam or Gaddafi type. He's more a Jordanian type. Not as bad as the murderous Saudis who lead jihad carnage around the world.
