Mark,

I may be the only one who's committed to put my foot in...my mouth.

Thus...https://www.siliconinvestor.com/readmsg.aspx?msgid=3191155

$39 is my "guess", not "leading up to", but a little past. That's my target + 10% overflow allowance due to negative sentiments brought forth by this SEA debacle. A good earning and subsequent CC will turn the tide and the "ambivalent crowd" thereby extending the buying somewhat, IMHO.

BB thinks 35...which is good but a bit conservative, again IMO.

Regards,
SF

Disclaimer: I've been wrong a whole lot!!!

Marc,

Barring a warning or deepening serious Asian turmoil, I expect AMAT to trade up to and possibly above $35 before earnings. If they can earn > $2 in 98 as previously stated, and with a growth rate just under 25%, AMAT is worth pretty close to $50. I think it'll take some confidence on the company's part, though, to get there. Confidence by hitting this qtr's #'s, and a public renewal of confidence in yearly earnings. Then we're on our way, although I expect it may take a little while to get back to $50.

My opinions only,

John Dodson
