E-commerce at the cost of T1 isn't very interesting. It's been around for years. No. It's only been around for about 2-3 years, with most of it in the last year. When I say E-commerce I'm talking about the public doing it at 33.6. Now I don't know what copper ISP you're using, but you can't rely on transaction integrity or reliability with that. Of course you can. Most of the transaction and data communication is done on the server, for performance and security reasons and very little data needs to travel over copper. Moreover, the integrity of this data can be verified. The big banks are doing this today, over copper. That pipe is full and it's all getting slower day by day. I have purchased over the net and it's a pain in the a--. The main reason is that it's slooooow. Most of the slowness has to do with performance problems on the server, not the copper. Do you want to wait for a 250k graphic of the product you want to buy to load? Yes, that is about the only part of the transaction that is still somewhat slow, loading pictures, sound, video. But are many people willing to pay $50 per month for this? You can get most of the benefits of the Internet today for $20 over regular phone lines. Also, as I understand it, ATHM requires FTTC, which is expensive, and probably won't have significant penetration for 3+ years.
